Near the end of the book we see another represntation of good vs. In the main battle between Grendel and Beowulf, Grendel was defeated, which lets us see that good will triumph over evil.
Good and evil are in my opinion the greatest contrasting elements that really make the story real to us and show the good triumphing over evil. One being in a bloody pit filled with evil monsters, and another being on a high hill with people rejoicing in it.
The dragon lives in a dark castle protecting his stolen treasure. The fact that he attacks at night shows us that he is surrounded by darkness which is a symbol for evil. Also he has poisoness horns on his head; all of this combined shows us that the dragon is a representation of evil; expecially the breathing fire part since fire represents hell, and evil.
From the characters of Beowulf and grendel who were the main illistrators of good vs. The meadhall, where Grendel lives, is a dark place where monsters live, and where the pool is dark and bloody.
Also the fact that Grendel comes and kills many innocent people lets us realize he is an evil creature. The mead hall where all the humans are located is bright, and joyful.
We recognize him as a great man and instantly put him as the good. The swamp is a deep hole in the earth, where Grendel and his mom live. He is a true villian. Grendel, one of the main characters in this book, represents evil and darkness.
